Wednesday 6th August 2008:
FORMER COUNTY COURT BUILDINGS IN MANCHESTER ACQUIRED BY HENRY BOOT DEVELOPMENTS

Henry Boot Developments Limited has exchanged contracts for the purchase of the former County Court Buildings on Deansgate in Manchester city centre.

The Grade II Listed buildings extend to 31,584 sq.ft over three storeys and fall within the Deansgate and Peter Street conservation area.  The buildings were originally constructed in 1896 to house the Inland Revenue and County Court Registry and became vacant once the Courts had relocated to the acclaimed Civil Justice Centre at Spinningfields.

The development will involve the refurbishment of the existing buildings to create a mixed-use scheme incorporating office and leisure uses, subject to planning.  It is the intention for the work to commence in the near future.

Adam Brady, Senior Development Surveyor at Henry Boot Developments, comments: “Our purchase of these landmark buildings in Manchester city centre further strengthens our presence in the region.  The design concept for the refurbishment is to retain as much of the original fabric of the buildings as possible, while adapting them to new uses suitable for their prominent Deansgate location and close proximity to Spinningfields.”

DTZ acted on behalf of the vendor, Her Majesty’s Court Service, whilst Cheetham & Mortimer advised Henry Boot Developments.
